It has recently come to our attention that there is at least one customer number out there to which attorneys have been added that are not actually affiliated with the entity that added them to the customer number. For those of us affiliated with multiple customer numbers, this is disturbing. If we accidentally associate an application with this "Phishing Customer number" others could get access to customer-confidential... more »
Currently there are many variations in the placement of data (application no., file date, docket no., etc.) on a communication from the Patent Office. It would be helpful if all communications used exactly the same basic format for application data, etc. For example, the arrangement of data in a Notice of allowance is different from the arrangement of data on an Office Action. Decisions on petitions are somewhat free-form.... more »
Currently, it seems there is only a Notice issued if no Declaration is submitted, or if the Declaration is not proper. 1) We have received a lot of these Notices when a Declaration HAS been proper, just not the supplied USPTO form. 2) There is no indication on the Notice whether a Declaration is faulty or missing entirely, which would be much more helpful. (For example, if the Notice were to state a Declaration was... more »
I think when you get the automatic approval of an e-Terminal Disclaimer in EFS, that the approval receipt document should include the patent/application number(s) that were listed in the disclaimer. I think it would also be very helpful if the notice on the front of the patent indicating that the patent is subject to a disclaimer also listed the patents/application number(s) disclaimed.
Allow us to save Assignment Templates at any stage of the Assignment process.
I have to go all the way to the end to save a template, which means it includes not only my data and the assignee data, but also the assignor data, which has to be edited (at a minimum the date the document was signed is unlikely to be the same.)
Allow us to save the template with just our data, as well as with our data & assignee data.
The rules specify at 37 CFR 1.55(f) the deadlines for filing a certified copy of the priority document. Failure to file a certified copy results in loss of priority benefits. Related rules specify requirements for a Petition to accept late filing of a certified copy of the priority document. There is no statutory requirement for a certified copy of the priority document. This is 2019!! Nobody, including patent examiners,... more »
For the applications I've saved to a collection in the Patent Docket widget, I would love a link within the frame to take me to PAIR to view the application.
Would you please put a link to the Sponsorship Tool on the MyUSPTO home page? As it is now, I have it bookmarked separately.
Currently the Petition for Foreign Filing License must be submitted via FAX. The petition and accompanying documents must be faxed to the appropriate office and, according to the people who process the petitions, the documents are not received in their mailbox until the following day. Follow up to make sure the fax was properly received is thereby delayed. The usual turn around time to receive the License is 2-3 business... more »
Practitioners and their assistants who used EFS, PAIR, Assignment recording, Maintenance fee payments, Fees, Forms, etc. frequently have to navigate clicking and scrolling through the PTO web site to get to the locations we need. How about a practitioner tab or shortcut that takes us straight to the most common links used by attorneys/agents/staff. Then we could make a single bookmark that takes us to Private PAIR,... more »
Not Happy. The Office's decision to eliminate the ability to review Public PAIR data while logged into Private PAIR is a huge step in the wrong direction. What you are essentially asking users to do is to have two versions of PAIR open in order to do their daily duties. I understand that data mining is a concern of the Office, however, the Customer Number practice was intended to help avoid access to unpublished applications... more »
Please add the option to Disable a payment method from the Financial Center.
Right now the only way to remove a payment method is to delete it, which makes all past transaction records unavailable.
There should be an option to set a payment method to Inactive, either permanently or temporarily.
Although it is generally accepted that if you are filing a response to a Notice to File Missing Parts or Notice to File Corrected Application Papers via EFS that you do not need to submit a return copy, the Notice actually contains conflicting instructions (see attached screenshot). The standard language of the Notices should be updated to definitively state that if you are filing a response via EFS that no return copy... more »
It would be convenient for citation purposes if the paragraph numbers in the published application match those in the specification as-filed. My suggestion is that, so long as the numbering in the as-filed specification meets the USPTO publication guidelines, the original paragraph numbering should be retained in the published specification. The reason is that, while specification amendments are made to the as-filed... more »
Get with Carnegie Mellon University and get in line to use their Captcha methodology to correct some of the horrendous typos found in some of the image-to-text conversions that have been done.
