At our firm, our staff is the one that logs in on behalf of the attorney (we do the certification thing) and they do the uploading and submitting of any filings. Something that attorneys/staff are constantly worried about having to deal with is when their digital certificate expires. There doesn't seem to be a clear and easy way to renew your digital certificate after it has expired. In the past, I have had to fill out a form, mail it in, and wait an undisclosed amount of time for approval. It might improve efficiency of application processing if attorneys could email a link to clients/inventors where they could sign documents online. Applicants and inventors could sign powers of attorney, inventors could sign declarations and assignments, and owners could sign 3.73c statements, using a digital time-stamped signature, like the kind you can get from Comodo for free.
I need to allow a paralegal to use my certificate to access Private PAIR and EFS. However, in order to maintain client confidentiality, I do not wish to allow the paralegal access to ALL of my customer numbers, but only to a certain subset.
