Drag and Drop Uploading of Files

Rather than loading one file at a time, it would save time to have a drag and drop interface for uploading files. This is fairly common in modern web interfaces, such as Wordpress, and easy to implement (CSS and Javascript) and there are canned solutions out there (for example, dropzone, filedrop, etc.). Think of the time that would be saved. Instead of loading all the application files one at a time, you can load all ...more »

EFS IDs too closely resemble serial numbers

It has caused problems at various times that the leading information on the EFS acknowledgement receipt is an "EFS ID" that often too closely resembles a serial number and does not seem to have any purpose to the receiver of the receipt. It would be nice if the application information itself were the leading information on the receipt, of if the EFS ID were something other than a string of 8 numbers like an application ...more »

Review Workflow for EFS-Web - Send direct url to reviewing atty

When filing on EFS-Web, it's a common firm practice to have an admin to enter application information and upload documents, and then have the attorney come in to review everything. Can you facilitate this workflow with a system that allows the admin to save a submission package AND email a DIRECT link/URL to the reviewing attorney that opens directly to the package? The Trademark system does something similar already. ...more »

Include Description/Title in Listed References

Right now, all NPL (and foreign) references are tagged only with "foreign reference" or "non-patent reference." This can be a pain when you have 20 NPLs and you need to download the one new one the Examiner is relying on. Ideally I would love a description (e.g. the author's name for any NPL, and the patent number for any foreign reference.) But if we can't have that, I'd like the items cited (or even better relied ...more »

Official Filing Receipt

Please include all pertinent applicant/application information on the first page of the official Filing Receipt, such as the title of the application and the entity status. Often this information is on second page, which I find a nuisance.

Stop uploading PDF forms; use screen fillable forms

We should be able to just enter all text based information using screen fillable forms. This would include (i) bibliographic (ADS) information, (ii) all IDS 1449s, (iii) the text of applications (title, inventor, government contract, priority, background, summary, brief figures, detailed description, claims, and abstract) using screen fillable forms, (iv) responses to missing parts, (v) response to restriction, (vi) ...more »

Add Company/Firm Administrator Role and Functions

As firms and companies are creating individual logins for each user, it would be great to see some functionality around managing those logins at an organizational level. Things like the following: 1. Allow users to associate their personal account with an entity account (allowing an administrator to manage relationships on their behalf). 2. Build account relationships in bulk between users and fee payment methods (one-to-many, ...more »

Remove Slashes in S-Signatures

The requirement that s-signatures be placed within slashes (e.g., /John Doe/) is an anachronism that is difficult and time-consuming to explain to inventors and executives, and even harder to achieve in practice. Modern signing services (e.g., such as DocuSign, et al.) provide proof of an intent to sign that can be retained in the practitioner's file. For the 21st century we need to permit signing the way the rest of ...more »

Applications associated with a particular practitioner

Right now, a single customer number is associated with a particular client, and/or firm. Multiple practitioners are typically associated with each customer number. Yet only 1-3 practitioners (prosecuting practitioner and their supervisor(s)) are actually responsible for a particular case. It would be helpful to the practitioner if there was a way within PAIR to view their cases. Most practitioners buy expensive software, ...more »

Entity Status

Since entity status may be updated through Private PAIR, it would be fantastic to have the ability to search by customer number and have returned in the results entity status. This would allow practitioners a quick way to review entity status for potential review. Additional useful, and impressive if possible, would be the ability to select the matters in the list to begin a bulk entity status change rather than having ...more »
