Modernization of EFS-Web

Move easily between PAIR and EFS-Web

It would be useful to be able to navigate (in a separate window or tab, perhaps), between an application in PAIR and a filing for that application in EFS-Web. For example, when making a filing in EFS-Web and you want to check some information, you could click on a PAIR link to bring up the associated PAIR page for that filing. conversely, you could be looking at something in PAIR prior to filing something and want to ...more »

Modernization of PAIR

Simplify Assignment Filing via PAIR

PAIR has a tab to show what assignments have been filed. It would be nice if we could enter the Assignment system from PAIR, and the Assignment system could pull the relevant data from PAIR. The relevant data should for example include the Applicant or current Assignee (as assignee) and the inventors (as assignors). The only thing that would need to be done is indicating it's an assignment, indicating the dates on ...more »

Modernization of PAIR

Entity Status

Since entity status may be updated through Private PAIR, it would be fantastic to have the ability to search by customer number and have returned in the results entity status. This would allow practitioners a quick way to review entity status for potential review. Additional useful, and impressive if possible, would be the ability to select the matters in the list to begin a bulk entity status change rather than having ...more »

Information Disclosure Statement - Submission of References

Minimize the number of submissions as well as entries per submission when uploading references for electronically filing an Information Disclosure Statement. The ability to upload .zip files with numerous "Foreign" references in one .zip file, as well as uploading numerous "Non Patent Literature" references in one .zip file, etc. would save a lot of time in EFS-Web. Currently, having to browse; upload the reference; ...more »

Upload .xml to fill out web-based forms

We do not use the web-based forms because you have to re-type information that already exists in our docketing system. Re-typing is a sure way to cause errors. Instead, I have programmed our docketing system to generate .xml documents that can be imported into an ADS which fills a good portion of the information. We also generate .xml that we use as a template for EPAS recordations. It would be great if the web-based ...more »

File wrapper synchronization using Box, Dropbox, or Google Drive

The USPTO should support file synchronization (e.g., Box, Dropbox, or Google Drive support). PDF documents in the image file wrapper should automatically synchronize to subscribed users' Box, Dropbox, or Google Drive folder. Authorized practitioners and applicants could subscribe to private folders, whereas published application documents could be made available in public folders. My experience is that applicants typically ...more »

Modernization of PAIR

PAIR XML tweaks

In PAIR, the ability to download XML data for a customer number is useful, but two suggestions: 1) Have an option to get data from all your customer numbers at once; and 2) include in the XML an indicator of current status. It already lets you filter on application status ('all', 'new', 'pending', 'issued', 'abandoned', 'other') - simply include this status tag in the download.

eTerminal Disclaimer - list the patent disclaimed

I think when you get the automatic approval of an e-Terminal Disclaimer in EFS, that the approval receipt document should include the patent/application number(s) that were listed in the disclaimer. I think it would also be very helpful if the notice on the front of the patent indicating that the patent is subject to a disclaimer also listed the patents/application number(s) disclaimed.
