Charge Deposit Account based on Customer Number

Add to Financial Manager the ability to associate deposit accounts with customer numbers. Then allow practitioners associated with a specific customer number authorize the Office to charge the deposit account associated with the customer number. Practitioners sign correspondence being filed with the Office but may rarely effect the submission of, and payment for, such filings. As a result, practitioners making an authorization... more »

Provide proof copy of claims or patent before issuance

In order to help improve patent quality it would be helpful if the USPTO could provide a pre-publication or "proof" copy of the patent or the final claims before the patent issues and allow the applicant to check it via PAIR and submit corrections via EFS. Since this procedure might delay issuance (i.e. to allow time for response and corrections), it could be an optional opt. in procedure.

Please remove capcha for known devices and known IP addresses.

Most users sign-in using known devices and often known IP addresses. Being forced to complete puzzles of "Identify images showing evidence of dogs having been on the sidewalk" is annoying and serves no useful purpose in the case of known devices.

This is particularly annoying when the user is quite aware of having previously selected the "This is a trusted device" tickbox.

Utility Model Patent

Modernize the USPTO and its electronic offerings by offering easily electronically filed and received applications for a utility model patent. Some examiner input would be required, but the process could result in grants in 2 - 3 weeks and be vitally important for the growth of our economy.

Delay launch of new EFS login and provide Demo sandbox

The USPTO should not change the Java applet login without providing ample advance notice (1-2 months is insufficient) and without providing a clear description, working demo site, and pre-launch notifications for users to demo, analyze, develop new code, and alter workflows to adapt to the changes. Since the early 2000's when EFS was first launched, corporations and law firms have developed code to login, manage, and... more »

"Fee Address" Indication Form (SB/47) Submittal Via EFS

Although it states in "37 C.F.R. 1.363 Fee address for maintenance fee purposes" that the "Fee Address" Indication Form (SB/47) may be submitted as an attachment to the Part B Fee Transmittal at time of Issue Fee payment, a call to the PTO's electronic business center was met with the acknowledgement that the attachment of SB/47 may be overlooked if filed electronically and therefore, the tried and true method of fax... more »

PDF Page Resize

When PDF files are created from scans, for example declarations, they can be at varying resolutions, and be interpreted by EFS as having a page size which is too large. So long as the resolution is sufficient, EFS should be able to automatically resize the file to 8.5x11. Requiring the user to find out how to correct the problem is unnecessary.

Submission of IDS

The eMod team is looking into ways to improve the submission of Information Disclosure Statements (IDS). Would the option to submit an IDS via a Word format, instead of the current PDF format, be useful?

Provide notification of Deposit Account Use

Send an email notification every time the deposit account is used.

You have an email address associated with the account.

Please send an email, indicating the serial number, attorney reference number, and what was charged and for what. Ideally, it would also include the remaining deposit account balance.

Why tons of forms for USPTO? Lets use the power of HTML/JS.

Remove the process-pain please. No forms need to be attached/uploaded. Instead of so many USPTO forms, there should be just a web page with each current form being an expandable/collapsible field in the web page. Merge all forms in to one live user-fillabler web page for the registered e-filers. All it needs is a good Java Script based web form. Such web form would have a left pane (for example) which lists all the... more »

Filing of Fees Due After a Submission is Completed

This idea is similar to one I posted earlier, but comes up in a different context. See: https://uspto-emod.ideascale.com/a/dtd/537995-31593, for the original idea relating to correcting EFS-Web filings after pressing the Submit button). Sometimes, either due to an error on behalf of the filer or due to the USPTO Financial Manager not working properly, submissions are made without payment of fees that are due. Sometimes... more »

FIX Web-ADS Priority Data Problem

Web-ADS appears to be BROKEN. If you use it to update anything for a matter with priority claims, it will edit the priority claim, and change the ordering of the elements. This is true even if you do not change the priority data at all. It will also insert an issue date for a Pending application. This is a serious problem and means that despite its convenience we cannot use the Web-ADS for to update the ADS data.... more »
