Modernize the USPTO and its electronic offerings by offering easily electronically filed and received applications for a utility model patent. Some examiner input would be required, but the process could result in grants in 2 - 3 weeks and be vitally important for the growth of our economy.
Modernization of EFS-Web
In this campaign, our goal is to enhance the user experience with the electronic filing system. Please share with us your ideas on how we can improve the PAIR and e-Office Action user experience. For more information visit EFS-Web .
For the entity size indication, when keeping the existing entity size at undiscounted, the resulting form states that it is a request to "change" to undiscounted status. To sharp-eyed clients, this looks like we filed in the incorrect status and are having to change it. Would prefer a wording that includes the statement that we are confirming the current entity size, which is what it says on the form when you are filling ...more »
When we log into EFS or Private-PAIR half the time the system says "log-out completed."
This is never useful. When the system times out (which it often does), we never want to complete a log-out by entering the password again.
Please fix this broken functionality.
Add to Financial Manager the ability to associate deposit accounts with customer numbers. Then allow practitioners associated with a specific customer number authorize the Office to charge the deposit account associated with the customer number. Practitioners sign correspondence being filed with the Office but may rarely effect the submission of, and payment for, such filings. As a result, practitioners making an authorization ...more »
Preparing an ADS is simply a pain. Even worse is preparation of an ADS with corrections. It would be easier if there was some way to either correct or modify an ADS from EFS or at least provide a way to use underline and strikethrough on the ADS fillable form.
It would be helpful if we could associate multiple docket numbers with a case.
Clients, attorneys, foreign associates, former attorneys all tend to have different docket numbers if the same case. This sometimes causes confusion in keeping track of files unless you have a strong support system. Allowing multiple docket numbers would allow prosecutors to devote resources elsewhere.
In the new Patent Center tool, we are going to start providing two receipts when filing patent applications. The Submission Receipt will inform users that the filing has been successfully received by the office, followed by a Payment Receipt to inform users that the payment has been successfully submitted. Vote “up” if you prefer to have both submission and payment information on the final Payment Receipt; and vote “down” ...more »
Often times, charges to a deposit account are expected and understood as to why they occurred. However, sometimes, a miscellaneous deposit account charge shows up and it is difficult to determine why the deposit account was charged (even though the fee code and amount is provided). It would be helpful if the person making the charge included a brief comment as to why the charge was being made. This would help practitioners ...more »
I know it is the practitioner's responsibility, but when filing a response to an office action, or missing parts, or other official notice with a shortened statutory period for response, it would be helpful to have a warning that extension of time fees might be due. Nothing to prevent the submission without such payment, but some visually apparent text that notes that the current response may have a particular fee for ...more »
Saved submissions are a great way to work with someone else to set up a filing, and then have them review and submit it. But right now it takes five clicks to get there, for of which are entirely unnecessary. There should be a single click access to saved submissions. The third radio button should be "access saved submissions." It would also be nice to have the serial number in addition to the title & EFS ID on ...more »
This is ridiculous to select User Authentication Method each time you log on. We should only be required to do this once especially if you're using the same (dedicated) computer! It is such a waste of time to do this each time. Below is what we see each time! Select User Authentication Method Authenticate with Java Applet (old method) Authenticate with Java Web Start (new method) Which Authentication Method ...more »
The EFS Contingency filing system is currently limited to "new applications, national stage submissions under 35 U.S.C. 371, requests for reexamination, and certain petitions." The system should be enhanced to include follow on submissions as well. If not all types of follow-on submissions, then at least the big ones, such as replies to restriction requirements, non-final office actions, final office actions, and whatever ...more »
