View Receipt History improperly tied to IFW

One of our listserv members reports, the View Receipt History function of Patententer, which is clearly intended to try to replicate the "last 40 ack receipts" function of EFS-Web, fails at this because it has a guaranteed latency that is tied to the IFW latency.

The Patentcenter developers have said from the beginning that one design requirement for Patentcenter is to replicate each feature of EFS-Web (and each feature... more »

Throbber persists too long

The throbber randomly remains in view and keeps spinning long after the requested action has actually finished. Unfortunately this particular misbehavior of Patentcenter is random. So it is very difficult to reliably demonstrate it. But it happens many times per day for anyone who makes regular use of Patentcenter.

Search and download large sets of data trending idea

Hi,

I see that there are some changes to Patent Center from the earlier beta version. In the earlier version, there was an option to search applications through customer number, which is not available currently. Even, the customer number field is no longer available at the application data page. I have following recommendations for your consideration:

1. The 'Search by customer number' option should be made available... more »

Patent Center should reveal application status better

One lineserv member writes:

There are many things that Palm reveals to people inside of the USPTO, that PAIR and Patentcenter do not reveal to applicants. Here are some of those things that Patentcenter should reveal to applicants.

On the Application Data tab, Patentcenter should display a "yes" or "no" as to whether the application is "special".

PatentCenter should display DAS cross-check results

One of our listserv members requests: Patentcenter should display, in the priority tab, the results of the cross-check against DAS. It needs to show the smiley face or the puzzled face or the frowny face. (See related Ideascale item #555, "Validate priority claim against DAS") This is Feature Request FR21 from the PatentCenter listserv Feature Request pate at https://patentcenter-tickets.oppedahl.com/patentcenter-feature-requests/.... more »

Go directly to Patent Center from USPTO home page

Should be able to directly access Patent Center home page when selected from USPTO home page. Currently, selecting Patentcenter from USPTO home page brings you to landing page with information about Patent Center, and you must then click a further "Patent Center" link.

Save Preferences when Customizing Columns trending idea

When in the View Correspondence area of the Workbench, you can click the ellipsis to get a Customize Columns pop-up. One of the columns you can add is "Viewed By," which we like to view in order to track what needs to be reviewed daily. However, after clicking on an application number and returning to View Correspondence, it does not save the setting - you have to click on the ellipsis again and check off the appropriate... more »

"FILED BY" should be practitioner rather than sponsored person

On the Electronic Acknowledgement Receipt for filing any documents, Patent Center specifies in the FILED BY field the name of the person who uploaded the documents for filing. But where a practitioner's sponsored assistant uploads documents and the practitioner is the one who reviews and submits the uploaded documents, that field should specify the practitioner's name rather than the sponsored assistant's name, since... more »

Provide a link to patent forms

One of our listserv members requests: In Patentcenter, provide a link to "patent forms." There is a link to "trademark forms" at the top of the page, but oddly no link to "patent forms."

Drawings--Improvements When Filing Landscape Oriented Drawings

I had the following experience filing a provisional with landscape drawings. Before continuing, I should note that I converted the drawings to bitonal formal (by converting to TIFF and back to pdf). They were standard Letter size with a landscape orientation.

When I uploaded the drawings in Patent Center, it displayed an error saying "Warning: The page size in the PDF is too large. The pages should be 8.5 x 11 or A4.... more »

Customer number is awkward for granting access rights

One of our listserv members writes: The granting of access rights by one registered practitioner to other registered practitioners is presently mediated using the awkward "customer number" system. The "customer number" system is being twisted too many ways to try to do too many things. It ought to be possible to grant access rights as in ePCT, with access granted to some other registered practitioner as to selected applications.... more »

ADS incorrectly flagged by Patent Center as being wrong version

We have noticed that Patent Center incorrectly flags uploaded ADS files as being out-of-date. The ADS form in question is the most recent form version for the ADS (PTO/AIA/14 (02-18), approved for use through 11/30/2020. This error only seems to happen if we start a new application filing and use the "Upload ADS" option at the first stage to provide Application Data through uploading a USPTO form-fillable ADS. Receive "wrong page size" error when page is correctly sized

PatentCenter indicates that uploaded documents have a page size that is too large even when they are correctly sized. In addition, a document that is smaller than a letter size document causes the same error to occur.
