It would be very helpful to be able to set preferences for viewing and other tasks both in Workbench and other modules of Patent Center and have these saved with our profiles so they are remembered each time we log in. For example, for Workbench it would be great to be able to set the following preferences: number of items per page (instead of always defaulting to ten), the order they are presented (i.e., which column... more »

There is no apparent way that I can find for scrolling through the Documents and Transactions view of a patent application record (corresponding to the Transaction History tab and IFW tab in PAIR). There should be. The only way I have found to navigate those screens is to tab across the column headings, which eventually skips down to the bottom of the page, allowing the number of items on a page to be reduced to the... more »
Please ensure consistency in the way inventor names are displayed. In several records some inventor names are displayed as First Middle Last while others are listed as Last, First Middle.
The variation can cause inadvertent errors that cost the applicant to fix.
The "Search for a patent application" field on the Patent Center home page should be revised to include attorney docket number as one of the options for searching. PAIR allows for searching by attorney docket number, and it is very common for a practitioner to search by attorney docket number. Thanks.
In EFS, a payment "receipt" is generated by merely setting up a payment, while the fact of payment is reflected on the same receipt as the submission itself. In PatentCenter, the submission receipt does not reflect the payment. While the payment receipt is generated after the actual payment, rather than before, and contains data making it clear the payment was submitted, it is at the very least confusing to look at... more »
The transaction history is a great place to get an idea of what is going on with an application, however, it would be awesome to have a real-time status option for where an Amendment or Response is on the Examiner's docket. Similar to the ability to download documents from the IFW in various formats, include an option to view the status of the Amendment or Response. Status could be as simple as: 1) Docketed - Action... more »
Why does the outgoing correspondence viewable in the Workbench, and filtered using the same criteria, provide a different list of results than the same feature in Private PAIR?
In my second filing experience, I have found that I am, after all, even though it did not work the first time, use type-ahead to find the part labels. The absence of a way to store a receipt for a saved submission is still an issue.
When reviewing an application record reached from a filtered Outgoing Correspondence list, there does not appear to be any way to go back to the filtered correspondence list. The browser "Back" function will take you back to the default list, but then you have to apply the filter again (and wait). Private PAIR has a tab/button for returning to the correspondence list. Please add such a button to Patent Center.
The button that says "File another patent application" (and other prompts like that throughout Patent Center) should instead prompt the user to process another submission. Most of our submissions via EFS (and now Patent Center) are not applications but are rather documents related to existing applications. So the prompt to file another "patent application" is not correct. That was an error in EFS. It would be great... more »
Currently the Applicant is not consistently listed for AIA applications in Patent Center. It would also be helpful to have the inventors listed when they have by default become the Applicant. Listing inventors when an assignee-applicant should be listed will help practitioners see when correction is needed.
I just tried to make an issue fee payment in a reissue application, but the list of document descriptions available is context sensitive and apparently in a reissue application, the "Issue Fee Payment" description is not available. I scrolled through everything and it was not there. I thought there might be an alternative description specific to reissue, but that was not there either.
On the review before submission screen, documents do not seem to appear in any particular order. It would be great if it were possible to sort the documents by name (ascending or descending) or by document type.
Our workflow is that a paralegal uploads the documents to be submitted, the attorney reviews them, and if correct, instructs the paralegal to submit. What we are seeing is that, once the attorney reviews the uploaded documents, the paralegal then no longer has those documents in her Workbench, and cannot submit the reviewed documents. This seems like a bug. I hope it's not a "feature."
The drag and drop document upload feature is great as well as the automatic document type recognition. However, the current manual document type selection feature can be slow and cumbersome. For example, when loading a large under of IDS support documents such as foreign patents and non-patent literature it can take a long time to individually select their document type. To solve this problem, there should be some way... more »
