Document Type Bug - Appears assigned but is NOT

There is a bug in the Document Type drop-down box that makes it appear that a document type is assigned to a document when it actually is ++not++. It only seems to occur when you paste a document type into the drop-down and then click elsewhere. This scenario occurs fairly frequently, for example, when doing IDS uploads--you've uploaded 50 Foreign References using drag-and-drop and now have to go back and assign the "Foreign... more »

Credit card charge records - missing attorney docket number

When we receive records of credit card charges for paying PTO fees in connection with Patent Center filings, the records do not show our attorney docket numbers for the cases at issue. That makes accounting on our end quite difficult, as we need to manually correlate the records with our case numbers. We do not encounter this problem with filings through EFS. So this seems like something that the PTO could fix in Patent... more »

Deep link to e-file a paper in that particular application

If you are on a page for a particular application, provide a deep link to e-file a paper in that particular application.

USPTO would make it so that a user who has reached a particular patent application in the user's Patentcenter workbench could simply click a "deep link" which would go directly to the "follow-on submission" page for that particular patent application. This would save the user a lot of unnecessary copying... more »

Split Document - Document Type Not Assigning Correctly

There is a bug in the Split Documents interface. When you split a document and assign document types, if you don't click "Done" at the bottom of the Split Documents interface but instead click the button to advance to the next screen, it acts like all of the pending document type selections for the sub-parts of that document have been assigned (at the least, it doesn't give you and warning that they have not), but does... more »

PatentCenter should have shareable address books

One of our listserv members writes: Address books should be sharable among Patentcenter users, using the "access rights" mechanism of Feature Request FR37. This is of course a well-known and frequently used feature in ePCT.

This is Feature Request FR38 from the PatentCenter listserv Feature Request page at https://patentcenter-tickets.oppedahl.com/patentcenter-feature-requests/.

Cannot sign-in/Sign-in doesn't "take"

I had a similar issue last week, but was able to move past it somehow. However, today, even though I am signed into my uspto.gov account, Patent Center keeps prompting me to sign in to use it as a registered user. But it never takes. I am signed in, but it still identifies me as a guest user.

I have tried three browsers and multiple attempts on each.

Web-based forms render into IFW in color and gray scale

Patentcenter does not preserve the computer-readable characters entered by the filer. Instead, and I am not making this up, Patentcenter flattens the characters into images which go into IFW. When Patentcenter flattens the character into images, it does it in gray scale! This ensures that when the flattened image gets loaded into IFW, it will get halftoned, and thus will get blurred. This makes it more likely that the... more »

Improve Document Type Selection for Drag-and-Drop File Upload

The drag and drop document upload feature is great as well as the automatic document type recognition. However, the current manual document type selection feature can be slow and cumbersome. For example, when loading a large under of IDS support documents such as foreign patents and non-patent literature it can take a long time to individually select their document type.

To solve this problem, there should be some way... more »

PatentCenter should display DAS cross-check results

One of our listserv members requests: Patentcenter should display, in the priority tab, the results of the cross-check against DAS. It needs to show the smiley face or the puzzled face or the frowny face. (See related Ideascale item #555, "Validate priority claim against DAS") This is Feature Request FR21 from the PatentCenter listserv Feature Request pate at https://patentcenter-tickets.oppedahl.com/patentcenter-feature-requests/.... more »

Drag-and-Drop Bug - Random Reordering of Files

The drag-and-drop feature is a big time-saver, but there appears to be a bug that detracts from some of the ease-of-use. Specifically, the files that are dropped are not listed in the order they were in in the source folder. For example, if you drag documents from a source folder that are alphabetically listed, that order is not preserved in the uploaded documents. However, if you use the Browse... button to go to that... more »

Include a Tab or Dropdown to Set Preferences

It would be very helpful to be able to set preferences for viewing and other tasks both in Workbench and other modules of Patent Center and have these saved with our profiles so they are remembered each time we log in. For example, for Workbench it would be great to be able to set the following preferences: number of items per page (instead of always defaulting to ten), the order they are presented (i.e., which column... more »

Throbber persists too long

The throbber randomly remains in view and keeps spinning long after the requested action has actually finished. Unfortunately this particular misbehavior of Patentcenter is random. So it is very difficult to reliably demonstrate it. But it happens many times per day for anyone who makes regular use of Patentcenter.
