Practitioners are often tasked with reviewing maintenance fee history. The data returned by the Office when looking up multiple records (max of 10 currently) is a great resource since it can be exported to Excel. Being able to upload data to make payments is helpful as well, however, it would be optimal to also be able to upload bulk data for the purpose of verifying past and future maintenance fee information. Although it is generally accepted that if you are filing a response to a Notice to File Missing Parts or Notice to File Corrected Application Papers via EFS that you do not need to submit a return copy, the Notice actually contains conflicting instructions (see attached screenshot). The Trademark Docket allows search by Attorney but the Patent Docket requires a listing of each application number for monitoring.
It would be very useful to be able to add to your Patent Docket by Customer Number. It is also logical, since you are logged into My.USPTO.gov and thus it is easy to provide the Customer Numbers associated with your log-in.
While the US and other countries are moving toward transmission of these documents electronically, it would be nice to allow applicants to correct formalities in their priority claim that have been preventing the electronic retrieval of priority documents. The rules specify at 37 CFR 1.55(f) the deadlines for filing a certified copy of the priority document. Failure to file a certified copy results in loss of priority benefits. Related rules specify requirements for a Petition to accept late filing of a certified copy of the priority document. There is no statutory requirement for a certified copy of the priority document. I think the Maintenance Fee reminders and expiration notices should not be sent out on patents that are already expired due to their priority date, and that maintenance fees should not be shown as "due" on the fee payment page if the case is otherwise expired.
Update the description relating to patent expiration to include an "or" statement that a patent may have reached the end of the term. POA rules and procedure could use an update so that practitioners can effectively remove their names and contact information from the record when no longer performing work for a patent owner. Currently, POA is required to change the Fee Address, and Correspondence Address for pre-AIA patents. These changes often occur after issuance. The form (https://www.uspto.gov/patent/uspto-automated-interview-request-air-form) includes a mandatory phone number field formatted to accept 10 numeric digits. I am located overseas and do not find that this format accommodates a phone number in a foreign country. If we log into the Financial Manager to pay Maintenance Fees, automatically provide a list of patents associated with our customer number(s) that have maintenance fees due.
This should reduce the number of inadvertently missed payments, and simplify the maintenance fee process.

Having to click on the MyUSPTO link and then click on Sign In seems excessive when you know what you want. Even in the event that a user clicks on Sign In when they do not yet have an account, the sign in dialog box gives them the option to create one.
The drop-down menus in MyUSPTO are very helpful. Please update the link on the Patents drop-down for the MPEP to pull up the searchable MPEP. The HTML version is not user friendly, especially to those who are newer to patent prosecution and need to search to find their answers. The Trademarks drop-down is already set to pull up the searchable TMEP.
When we log into MyUSPTO and go to file a patent or check PAIR, we are asked to pick a practitioner. As it stands now, the list is haphazard and in no particular order. I saw another submitter suggest that the practitioners be in alphabetical order. I like that idea but I'd like to take it one step further. How about having favorite practitioners?
