MyUSPTO Improvement - Add Drop-Downs to MyUSPTO Links

The MyUSPTO links available on every USPTO web page should include a drop-down menu to either:

Create Account

What Is It? (link to home page)

Having to click on the MyUSPTO link and then click on Sign In seems excessive when you know what you want. Even in the event that a user clicks on Sign In when they do not yet have an account, the sign in dialog box gives them the option to create one.

MyUSPTO Improvement - Link Searchable MPEP

The drop-down menus in MyUSPTO are very helpful. Please update the link on the Patents drop-down for the MPEP to pull up the searchable MPEP. The HTML version is not user friendly, especially to those who are newer to patent prosecution and need to search to find their answers. The Trademarks drop-down is already set to pull up the searchable TMEP.

Favorite Attorneys on MyUSPTO

When we log into MyUSPTO and go to file a patent or check PAIR, we are asked to pick a practitioner. As it stands now, the list is haphazard and in no particular order. I saw another submitter suggest that the practitioners be in alphabetical order. I like that idea but I'd like to take it one step further. How about having favorite practitioners? My firm currently has 48, but the ones I work with the most are less than ...more »

Pull Data into EPAS for Validation of Patent/Application Numbers

Now that we log into My.USPTO.gov when filing assignments as well, it should be easy to pull data from Public or Private PAIR into the Assignment system (EPAS) to ensure that assignments are correctly recorded. During the validation step, the system should display the title and inventors of the patent/application numbers, so that the attorney can verify that the correct numbers were entered. Erroneous recordations happen ...more »

Do not duplicate

Since I am a beginner, there are things that are obvious to the USPTO personnel but not to me. An example is filing a petition and discovering a few days later that you can file an ePetition. I was going to file an ePetition, but it was explained to me by a representative at the IAC that it would be very difficult to sort out at the USPTO. When I eventually reached the Petition office, they politely said "do not ...more »

Add Company/Firm Administrator Role and Functions

As firms and companies are creating individual logins for each user, it would be great to see some functionality around managing those logins at an organizational level. Things like the following: 1. Allow users to associate their personal account with an entity account (allowing an administrator to manage relationships on their behalf). 2. Build account relationships in bulk between users and fee payment methods (one-to-many, ...more »

Allow for Multiple Transfers of Property in Single EPAS Session

When recording an assignment, it would be helpful to be able to list several transfers in a single submission. For example, if I have a case where I want to record the assignment from the inventors to company A, then Company A to Company B, it would be nice to do that in a single recordation, instead of two separate recordations. It could operate similar to the way you are able to record the transfer of multiple patents/applications ...more »

Submission of Petition for Foreign Filing License

Currently the Petition for Foreign Filing License must be submitted via FAX. The petition and accompanying documents must be faxed to the appropriate office and, according to the people who process the petitions, the documents are not received in their mailbox until the following day. Follow up to make sure the fax was properly received is thereby delayed. The usual turn around time to receive the License is 2-3 business ...more »
