The "Automated Interview Request (AIR)" form requires mandatory acceptance of "a copy of this communication will be made of record in the application file" AND a listing of the user's email address. Stakeholders use a wide variety of PDF creation programs. eMod should be able to ingest a PDF created using a variety of programs. (e.g., don't require use of PDF creation by use of Vendor X's software) Either use a PDF specification that is open-source, or publish an SDK that could drive development by multiple vendors.
We should be able to just enter all text based information using screen fillable forms. It would be great of USPTO forms were more friendly to special characters since so much information for inventors and places outside the U.S. use them. Once upon a time, copying and pasting special characters into a form-fillable ADS, while accepting them, would cause horrendous errors on OFRs needing correction. Remove the process-pain please. No forms need to be attached/uploaded. Instead of so many USPTO forms, there should be just a web page with each current form being an expandable/collapsible field in the web page. Merge all forms in to one live user-fillabler web page for the registered e-filers. All it needs is a good Java Script based web form.
