I love that we can add cases to the My USPTO page to monitor easily, but currently the only view for each portfolio is by the title of the application. I would love to see an option to chose what fields to be displayed in that section. For example as a personal preference, I would much rather prefer to see application number and attorney docket number rather than the title. Also I assume this will change eventually, ...more »
As I write this, EFS-Web and EFS-Web Contingency have both been down for several days due to a PALM outage (https://www.uspto.gov/blog/ebiz/). Would the Office please consider opening a Dropbox* account that would accept ZIP uploads of submissions during outages? We could prepare PDFs for EFS-Web as usual, but then ZIP and upload them via a non-USPTO service with confidentiality guarantees. That way no single point ...more »
The EFS Contingency filing system is currently limited to "new applications, national stage submissions under 35 U.S.C. 371, requests for reexamination, and certain petitions." The system should be enhanced to include follow on submissions as well. If not all types of follow-on submissions, then at least the big ones, such as replies to restriction requirements, non-final office actions, final office actions, and whatever ...more »
Often times, charges to a deposit account are expected and understood as to why they occurred. However, sometimes, a miscellaneous deposit account charge shows up and it is difficult to determine why the deposit account was charged (even though the fee code and amount is provided). It would be helpful if the person making the charge included a brief comment as to why the charge was being made. This would help practitioners ...more »
In order to view and//or download the PDF of a patent publication (either the application publication or the issued patent), many steps are required within PAIR. Click on the publications tab. Select the correct link to view the publication text. Press the images button. Press the all pages button. Then download the publication. How about simplifying things and just putting a PDF (and optionally Word or xml) version ...more »
Please modernize the fillable PDF forms so they are compatible iPhones, iPads, etc. It is fairly common to use these devices to review and sign forms. Attempting to sign USPTO fillable PDF forms on an iPhone typically ends up with corrupt and unusable forms.
If EPAS pulled from the USPTO database and showed you the title associated with the patent/patent application number you have identified it would greatly reduce the number of mis-recorded assignments.
When recording an assignment, it would be helpful to be able to list several transfers in a single submission. For example, if I have a case where I want to record the assignment from the inventors to company A, then Company A to Company B, it would be nice to do that in a single recordation, instead of two separate recordations. It could operate similar to the way you are able to record the transfer of multiple patents/applications ...more »
First time here; apologies if this has been asked and I overlooked it in my search. Today Private PAIR gave me a mild heart attack. I was checking the status of a pending application prior to filing a continuation. On the Application Data screen, I saw a "Status" of "Patented Case" (see screenshot, red arrow). Oops! Turns out the Issue Notification has been mailed, but the patent has not, in fact, been issued (see ...more »
After uploading documents and paying fees, give an option to download Electronic Patent Application Fee Transmittal in the Acknowledgement Receipt window. Currently, not all documents show up in the IFW tab immediately after uploading and this would bypass that issue.
When an Examiner cites references, we only receive that list in a PDF.
Please make the list of cited references available a soft copy form, such as CSV, XML, or Doc.
This would improve our ability to consistently cross-cite, and also our ability to confirm that the patent numbers cited are accurate.
Today I was logged out of EFS-Web with no warning for timing out after approximately 15 minutes. Nominally, it takes at least 30 minutes of no activity for a log-out. But I have received the log-out warning or been logged out for no activity WHILE I was uploading documents. The PTO's explanation notes: "Note that a logout will automatically occur when your session times out based on the defined user timeout value." ...more »
