Fees included on Acknowledgment receipt

Similar to current EFS receipt, we would like to see the Patent Center receipt options to save/email receipt AFTER payment of any associated fees, and would like to see confirmation of fees paid on the actual receipt Currently, you have to submit your documents, save/email receipt, then pay fees and save a separate receipt.

Improvements

Would like to be able to call up a new application from the application screen without having to return to the home screen. Would like to be able to enter two e-mail addresses when filing an application. Would like fee payment history to include maintenance fees. Profiles that autopopulate forms would be nice. For example, if I file hundreds of applications for the same client, it would be nice to have a profile for that... more »

"Attorney Docket #" missing from fee-payment process

Patent Center seems to not be associating the attorney docket number of a submission with a fee payment for that submission. When going from Patent Center to the fee payment page, the fee payment confirmation shows an "Attorney Docket #" column, but it's empty. This results in accounting problems for the practitioner, where the practitioner cannot readily tell from deposit account payment records what attorney docket... more »

I can't believe this made it out of Alpha testing

I am in the middle of my first submission using PatentCenter instead of EFS-Web. It is a disaster. What were the Alpha testers doing that they allowed this to get to the Beta stage.
1. As part of our internal QC process, we have paralegals who check the submissions after they are uploaded and saved. Part of that process includes checking that document parts have been correctly labelled. And that requires being able... more »

Viewable ADS in a filing

We are submitting a new application and we uploaded the USPTO ADS form into Patent Center. Out of all the documents you load for a new application the ADS is one of the most important documents to view before submitting, but you are not able to view it. You must download all documents to be able to see the ADS as it was loaded. This is a bit cumbersome. We have our paralegals load the documents to Patent Center and then... more »

Training Mode Options

Is there a possibility to add additional Tabs for example "Existing/Workbench/Manage" in training mode to facilitate testing of formal documents (POA/IDS/Missing Parts and other similar documents. This would provide beta testers more options to test and validate.

Thank you

Saving a submission/Reviewing the saved submission

We typically will have a paralegal/staff member load a filing to Patent Center (PC) and then the working attorney and Supervising attorney will go in to PC and review the filing before submitting. It would be very helpful if:

1) when the filing is saved there is some sort of popup or easy to read notification that it's been saved and then go back to the Workbench or some sort of "closure" once it's been saved instead... more »

Leveraging Text (DOCX)

Template(s) would be helpful

It would seem helpful, to both the applicant and the Office, to have access to a .docx template that we can start from.

This could have acceptable fonts, type size, line spacing, margins, page numbering, correct headings and section breaks where required (such as for Claims, Abstract), suitable numbering for lines and paragraphs (if bold para. numbering in .docx will be a new requirement, currently optional per MPEP),... more »

Assignment Document

It appears that a pdf of the assignment may be available for viewing under the "Assignments" side tab (see attached screen snip), however, when I click on the pdf icon to view the document, an error message pops up (see attached screen snip). Is this an individual occurrence or others having this same issue?

Thank you.

Miscellaneous

Fix IDS form to accept six and five-digit patents

For many years, the Information Disclosure form does not allow the addition of U.S. patent numbers less than 1,000,000.

Any attempt to add a number in the U.S. patent section with six digits or less brings up the following popup: "Invalid Patent Number format. Patent numbers can be up to 13 charates, with the first two being alpha numeric. EXAMPLE: 99,999,999; 9999999."

Trying to fool the form by adding a leading... more »

Association of Customer Number to Patent Application

Patent Center is not associating the customer number to the application, making the application not viewable in PrivatePAIR. I filed a PCT application on Monday, May 4th. The attached filing Acknowledgement Receipt shows the Customer Number confirming that the number was correctly specified on the filed documents. The PCT Help Desk has confirmed that the Customer Number is listed on the documents, but the application... more »

"FILED BY" should be practitioner rather than sponsored person

On the Electronic Acknowledgement Receipt for filing any documents, Patent Center specifies in the FILED BY field the name of the person who uploaded the documents for filing. But where a practitioner's sponsored assistant uploads documents and the practitioner is the one who reviews and submits the uploaded documents, that field should specify the practitioner's name rather than the sponsored assistant's name, since... more »

Leveraging Text (DOCX)

Need far more material on equations in .docx filing

It appears the only information on acceptable equation formats is in "Quick_Start_Guide_DOCX_Intake.docx", as an off-hand reference to "Unsupported OLE Objects", which states:
"(Supported OLE Objects include Visio.Drawing.11, Equation.DSMT4, ACD.ChemSketch.20, ChemDraw.Document.6.0, Equation.3)"

The one used with most versions of MS Word is "Equation.3". "Equation.3" had not been maintained for a number of years.... more »

Step Backward ... Embedded Fonts are Back ?!

Not sure why there has been a reversion to not allowing for embedded fonts in PDF documents. 🙄

Patent Center was working like a charm previously and allowed for the uploading of PDF documents that EFS-Web did not. The extra work required to make PDF documents image based when converting them from a word processing program is cumbersome and time consuming.

Please eliminate the embedded font issue... more »
