Restricting the ability of users to change the email address associated with their USPTO.gov account is not optimal. People move from company to company, firm to firm, and will need to use their business email address as their account address. It is not practical to require users to contact the Office to make a change that should be allowed electronically. The Office already requires users to change their password ...more »
Now more than before we need the ability to identify at least three (3) administrators that can conduct additions and removal by domain address. Since USPTO.gov accounts are used to access secure USPTO systems, this seems a valid possibility when a specific domain is used for account names. For example, our practitioners and employees all have accounts under their firm email address so the domain is the same for everyone. ...more »
The MyUSPTO links available on every USPTO web page should include a drop-down menu to either:
What Is It? (link to home page)
Having to click on the MyUSPTO link and then click on Sign In seems excessive when you know what you want. Even in the event that a user clicks on Sign In when they do not yet have an account, the sign in dialog box gives them the option to create one.
The drop-down menus in MyUSPTO are very helpful. Please update the link on the Patents drop-down for the MPEP to pull up the searchable MPEP. The HTML version is not user friendly, especially to those who are newer to patent prosecution and need to search to find their answers. The Trademarks drop-down is already set to pull up the searchable TMEP.
Currently the practitioner a person is working under in EFS-Web is not automatically the practitioner they are working under when moving to Private PAIR. What is the purpose of not keeping these the same as is the current process when using a PKI to login?
Staff who have been sponsored by more than five (5) practitioners will find it burdensome to sort through the long list when they are not in alphabetical order, or in another list hierarchy they prefer. The list is not sorted by any of the three showing criteria; name, registration number, or email address. Additionally, a filter would be extremely helpful for those staff sponsored by large numbers of practitioners ...more »
I was just asked three times to obtain the authentication code to log into Private PAIR. Very strange since it was working earlier today. I just closed IE and used another browser.
What could be the cause?
Looks like users still need to Sign-off Authenticated Session in order to switch to a different practitioner when using their USPTO.gov account to login. It would be most efficient to have a way to select a new practitioner from the "Sign-off Authenticated Session" link instead of making people log back in to get the practitioner list. I realize this is a temporary solution, but users will be burdened with this until ...more »
Since entity status may be updated through Private PAIR, it would be fantastic to have the ability to search by customer number and have returned in the results entity status. This would allow practitioners a quick way to review entity status for potential review. Additional useful, and impressive if possible, would be the ability to select the matters in the list to begin a bulk entity status change rather than having ...more »
Users must access Financial Manager to add new personnel to their stored payment methods. When a user first logs into Financial Manager, they should have an opportunity to collapse various notifications so that toggling between payment methods eliminates the substantial space taken up by the notifications. To better confirm users have reviewed the data, the option to collapse could appear after initial login. For example, ...more »
Because Power of Attorney effectively ends at issuance, practitioners are prevented from withdrawing as attorney of record in issued patents. This can lead the public into believing that a practitioner is responsible when they are not. Law firms routinely transfer files back and forth. Some practitioners do not feel it is necessary to file a new POA for issued patents because POA is technically "ineffective." Given ...more »
Add to Financial Manager the ability to associate deposit accounts with customer numbers. Then allow practitioners associated with a specific customer number authorize the Office to charge the deposit account associated with the customer number. Practitioners sign correspondence being filed with the Office but may rarely effect the submission of, and payment for, such filings. As a result, practitioners making an authorization ...more »
