I had previously suggested that the system automatically save uploaded documents, if it logs someone out. An alternative that may be easier to implement would be to provide a "save this submission" option on the document upload page as well. That way we can save the upload in process. This would be especially useful for example after we upload all the documents and before we start the document verification (opening ...more »
The Trademark Docket allows search by Attorney but the Patent Docket requires a listing of each application number for monitoring.
It would be very useful to be able to add to your Patent Docket by Customer Number. It is also logical, since you are logged into My.USPTO.gov and thus it is easy to provide the Customer Numbers associated with your log-in.
When classifying a document that is uploaded, we have to select a Document Description. But document descriptions are not in any logical order. For example, for an Office Action response, there are six categories, three of which start with different words, and thus are in different parts of the pull-down menu. (Amendment, Preliminary, and Response) Since all of these are amendments, they should be categorized together. ...more »
Web-ADS appears to be BROKEN. If you use it to update anything for a matter with priority claims, it will edit the priority claim, and change the ordering of the elements. This is true even if you do not change the priority data at all. It will also insert an issue date for a Pending application. This is a serious problem and means that despite its convenience we cannot use the Web-ADS for to update the ADS data. ...more »
It appears that EFS stops working periodically, with little warning. It would be really useful if there were a "live" status update on EFS when we log into EFS. For example, today I uploaded a patent application. It was validated, and everything looked like it was going well, until I clicked Submit. At that point I got a notice that said: "Your request could not be completed at this time. Please try again later." ...more »
If we log into the Financial Manager to pay Maintenance Fees, automatically provide a list of patents associated with our customer number(s) that have maintenance fees due.
This should reduce the number of inadvertently missed payments, and simplify the maintenance fee process.
I will sometimes have Comments on the Allowance, which have to be submitted with the Issue fee. Sometimes I have minor amendments to the Specification.
Right now, the only options I have for submissions with the Issue Fee are:
* Amendment After Notice of Allowance
* Oath and Declaration
* Request for Simultaneous Issuance
You should at a minimum add:
* Transmittal Letter
Now that we log into My.USPTO.gov when filing assignments as well, it should be easy to pull data from Public or Private PAIR into the Assignment system (EPAS) to ensure that assignments are correctly recorded. During the validation step, the system should display the title and inventors of the patent/application numbers, so that the attorney can verify that the correct numbers were entered. Erroneous recordations happen ...more »
EFS-Web, PAIR, and now My.USPTO.gov are often down starting at midnight Eastern time. More than 2/3 of patent activity comes from timezones that are further West, including California.
Please move outage times to after midnight Pacific time.
With the new system of sponsorship, we can provide access to non-attorneys. However, the access remains all-or-nothing. Please provide at least two levels of access, owner and viewer, where a viewer can see and download data but cannot upload or edit it. Also, please provide such access this by Customer Number, so we can selectively give access to clients. This would allow us to provide access to clients, even if ...more »
The Time-Out appears to happen sometimes unexpectedly. It's always frustrating when that happens. This is especially true if the timeout occurs while uploading something more complex like a patent application with references.
It would be a simple solution to have the system automatically save the in-progress upload, so we do not have to restart from scratch.
When an Examiner cites references, we only receive that list in a PDF.
Please make the list of cited references available a soft copy form, such as CSV, XML, or Doc.
This would improve our ability to consistently cross-cite, and also our ability to confirm that the patent numbers cited are accurate.
